I'm losing the property
in my backyard.
As shards of ice follow
currents in the river.

I'm thankful for the winter.
It's slowed now.
The erosion is a crawl
for a season.

What if the world skipped seasons
as a movie can
skip frames
growing old?

Any small hiccup in that
delicate process
could put the river over
my whole world.

I too would be as my house;
a part of the sand
under water
behind me.

And what of my neighbor on
the other side
across my
back yard the river?

It's a slow process. I'll
still lose it
but it happens
the same rate I do.

Sandbags won't help.
The river is littered
from bottom to middle -
previous attempts.
