Delving inward, I bob for self shes gone; somewhere in this wasps nest the reason I care or not whirs along, too. There is always a she; not so, reason. No soul submissive as that gone to him rhymes or lies nearby nude. Far off jesters amuse; but here, here in the pouring truth a monster I wish were distortion replaces her, masturbating bitterly. Why must, always, there be a she?

She stands next to Mother, watching her peel apples- some green, a few red. The kitchen fills with the odor of cinnamon and brown sugar, warmth from the oven, the slight scent of Mothers cigarettes. The red skin curls, the green twists, both in long strips that pile up in the graveyard, the sink. Mother turns away to fetch a bowl. She wants to help, choosing a pale granny-smith. She cant peel it in one strip like Mother. Chunks of apple fall into the sink, drops of blood, tears of failure. Mother continues around her.

Maybe its because that was when he told me abouther. The wail my soul made all those years ago still echoes, reminding me of the initial hurt. Maybe its the song on the radio, that God awful Greenday monstrosity - something about waking when September ends. Id rather sleep the month away. My miscarried baby would have been here this September. September Eleventh to be exact. On that day I mourn more than the loss we all know so well. But I mostly hate September just because I can. Sometimes its good to hate to feel something.
