Welcome to The Versifier! I hope you enjoy your time here. Remember: you DO NOT have to be a member to post - we just ask that you use your time here in a constructive and friendly manner.
Any online community needs guidelines to ensure the most pleasant and beneficial experience for everyone, and The Versifier is no exception.
Our rules are fairly simple:
1: Please reply to at least two posts before posting one of your own.
2: No more than 2 posts in each forum a day.
3: No making fun of me!
4: SPAM belongs in the spam area!
5: Please make sure you post in the right forum. Any offensive material might shy away our new members. There is a forum for everything! If I see a post that seems a bit too erotic, I will move it to the right forum.
6: The critique forum is for honest feedback and revision. It is not for the thin skinned.
Most importantly,
we do not allow personal attacks.
'Personal attacks' are remarks intended to degrade, belittle, provoke, or demean other users. The administration will be the final judge of what specifically constitutes a personal attack in a given context. If it is clear that a fellow member is attempting to provoke you into personal attacks please do not retaliate, but alert the administration or mods. If you do allow yourself to be provoked warnings may be issued to both parties.
For the purposes of this text, 'administration' and 'Mods' are taken to mean any member of the Versifier staff empowered to edit or delete posts.
If a someone posts what the administration or mod perceive to be a personal attack against a member, they may issue a warning to the offending parting through a pm (personal message).
We may also choose to delete the personal attack(s) from an offending user's post, and/or the entire post itself, at our option.
If a user chooses to post personal attacks, they accept the risk that they will be warned and/or have their post edited, at our discretion.
When a user accumulates three current warnings, administration will discuss the matter and decide whether or not the offending user should be allowed to continue posting at The Versifier. If we decide that it is not in the community's best interest to allow the user continued posting priveleges, he or she will be banned.
We also reserve the right to ban users without benefit of warning, but this drastic option will only be exercised in what we judge to be 'emergency situations.' Only when a user posts material which is obviously highly offensive to a majority of other users will this action be considered. We do not take banning lightly.
*If we feel a piece would serve better in another forum- we might move it. In doing this, we will send you a quick pm letting you know. If you are set on having it in the original forum, please feel free to send any mod or admin a note.
*The Versifier does not allow 'SPAM' unless it is posted in the proper 'link/spam' forum. Any unsolicited advertisment that is not clearly related to the subject matter of a given thread will be deleted or moved.
*In reviewing these rules, please note that The Versifier does not ban users for their views. We only warn and/or ban users based on a demonstrated pattern of unacceptable conduct. From an administrative perspective, we don't care what a user's views are, but if they are unable to present them without intentionally offending other users, their posting privileges will eventually be revoked.
In general, we support the right to free speech, but since this is a privately owned message board, that right can be superceded by our own right to decide what sort of conduct and content we do and do not find acceptable.
This may seem like a lot of rules, but to follow them requires no more than the sort of reasonable conduct that is expected at any high-quality discussion forum. Users who make a habit of being civil and respectful toward others will not have any problems whatsoever.
